Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School Title 1 teachers recently added a valuable resource to their program.
They joined efforts to promote literacy at home by teaming up with a local entity called “Family Resource Magazine” out of Buckhannon. The Family magazine offers tips and articles on promoting a strong family unit and provides wonderful information about West Virginia and what it has to offer. Every month it gives a list of family outings and fun excursions that are available during that particular month. The magazine is quick to showcase West Virginia photographers and has often featured photos of our local children.
Title 1 teacher, Tracy Harlan, states: “We have many goals this year but on the top of our list is to promote a whole family awareness for literacy. Through teaming up with such a great magazine we are able to provide a whole year’s free subscription of valuable information for our Pre-School and Kindergarten students and their families. Each subscription normally retails for $10.00 per household but through their generosity and Title 1 efforts they are giving us 100 free subscriptions! Through the use of extended resources we are trying to reach out and provide support for enhanced learning for all students and their families.
