The Davis Thomas Bears boys’ team took on East Preston Middle School last week in what turned out to be a very memorable game. The Bears jumped out to an early 16-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, but East closed the gap before the break, leaving DT with a slight 23-22 edge at halftime.
The third quarter continued to be a dogfight, with DT maintaining a slim 35-32 advantage. The bout came down to the wire; with the score tied at 48-48, East Preston had possession of the ball. East sank the final shot with just four seconds remaining, which proved to be the gamewinner as East Preston took the victory, 50-48.
Elijah O’Brien led the Bears with 13 points, while Kevin Kerr and Nolan Luzier followed closely with 12 points each. Jarrett Dearborn collected 9 points, and Westyn Huffman added 2 points.
The Bears continue to show signs of growth, development, and improvement early in the season. They will return to the court at home against West Preston on January 7th at 5:00 PM.
