For the fall of 2026, Davis Thomas Elementary School will suit up its first-ever co-ed soccer team. The team is coached by Tucker County native Kurt Snider and is made up of players from Davis Thomas, Tucker Valley, and several homeschool players as well.
The team played its first match this past week in Kingwood against Central Preston Middle School. The Bears would find themselves down 4-0 in the first half but continued to battle through and eventually found the net on a mid-half goal by Maverick Drenning, cutting the lead to 4-1.
Bears goalkeeper Ellis Sherald would hold Central scoreless in the second half, and the Bears would fall 4-1.
Davis Thomas will play again next week on Tuesday, September 8, at Braxton County Middle School and look to improve on its young season.
