The Lady Bears of Davis Thomas played two games last week. They began the week with a tough matchup against the Vikings from Petersburg Middle. DT struggled out of the gates, netting just 2 points in the opening quarter to Petersburg’s 10. The Lady Bears got it going in the second quarter, pulling within 3 points before the break at 16-13, and got within 1 at 21-20 heading into the fourth and final quarter.
The Vikings were able to maintain some distance and hold on for the win over DT in the fourth quarter, with a final score of 30-27. Morgan Simmons led the team in scoring with 15 points. Addy Johnson followed with 7 points, and Harper Wilt chipped in 5 points.
The Lady Bears returned home for an 8th Grade Night matchup with Kasson Middle. DT got it in the cup early and often, outscoring the Eagles 15-8 to start the game and holding a 22-15 lead at halftime. Coming out of the break, DT extended the lead to 16 points, building a 34-18 advantage that was too much for the Eagles to overcome. The Lady Bears went on to win 45-24.
Simmons again led the team in scoring with 19 points. Johnson followed closely with 17 points, and Wilt added 6 points.
The Lady Bears will be back home next week on Tuesday, February 17th, for a tip-off against Bruceton Middle.
