LADY MT. LIONS COLLECT WINS OVER PETERSBURG AND POCAHONTAS

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted Petersburg on Tuesday December 13th for a matchup with the #4 team in Class “AA”.  The Lady Mt. Lions pulled away from the Lady Vikings after a tight game in the first quarter.  Tucker County got the victory by the final score of 69-43.

The first quarter was controlled early by Petersburg as the visitors led 7-0 early.  Tucker County fought back to tie the game at 13-13 after one quarter of play.  The Lady Mt. Lions dominated the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Vikings 19-5 in the quarter to take a commanding 32-18 lead at the half.

Tucker County would win the third quarter 16-14 to increase the Lady Mt. Lions lead after three 48-32.  Petersburg was unable to make a comeback in the fourth as Tucker County outpaced the Lady Vikings 21-11 to give the Lady Mt. Lions a big 69-43 win.

Tucker County placed four players in double figures as Kadie Colebank led the Lady Mt. Lions with 21 points, 18 rebounds, 6 block, while Brylee Wetzel added 12 points, 5 steals.  Ericka Zirk had 12 points, 11 rebounds for Tucker County and Avery Colebank reached double figures with 11 points including 3 three point field goals.  Macy Helmick chipped in 7 points and 6 assists for the Lady Mt. Lions in the victory.  The Tucker County JV team also won 64-47. 

 

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions Basketball team played Pocahontas County at home on Friday December 16th.  

Tucker County dominated the contest from start to finish as the Lady Mt. Lions won the game 66-22.  

In the first quarter Tucker County raced out to a quick lead as the quarter ended with the Lady Mt. Lions ahead 22-6.  The second quarter was also controlled by Tucker County as they outscored the Lady Warriors 14-6 to make the halftime score 36-12 at the half.

The Lady Mt. Lions once again would add to their lead in the third as Tucker County outpaced Pocahontas County 19-4 to put the score to 55-16.  The fourth quarter was won by Tucker County 11-6 to give Tucker County the victory by the final score of 66-22.

Tucker County was led by Kadie Colebank with 18 points, 11 rebounds and Brylee Wetzel had 17 points, 5 steals.  Ericka Zirk added 11 points, 10 rebounds and Macy Helmick chipped in 9 points, 6 assists.  The Lady Mt. Lions JV team picked up a 40-31 win in the first game of the night.  

 

Tucker County(4-0) will return to action on Wednesday December 28th in the Mt. Storm Power Station Holiday Classic at Tucker County High School.  Frankfort will play James Monroe at 5:45pm on December 28th and then Tucker County will host Union in the second game.  The Consolation game will be on Thursday December 29th at 5:45pm and the Mt. Storm Power Station Holiday Classic Championship will be played after the Consolation game at approximately 7:15pm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
