The Tucker County Lady Mt. Lions volleyball team has spent the summer laying the foundation for the upcoming season under the direction of new head coach Megan Helmick.
Throughout the offseason, the Lady Mt. Lions have dedicated extra time to improving their skills, teamwork, and conditioning by participating in a series of 30-minute scrimmages at the Bridge Sports Complex. The summer competition has given the team valuable experience against a variety of opponents, including Elkins, Robert C. Byrd (RCB), Lewis County, Preston, Gilmer County, Fairmont, and Bridgeport.
While no official records or statistics have been kept during the summer scrimmages, Tucker County has enjoyed its share of success, winning several sets against quality competition. More importantly, the matches have provided the Lady Mt. Lions with opportunities to gain confidence, develop chemistry, and adjust to Coach Helmick’s system before the regular season begins.
The team’s commitment to putting in extra hours on the court has been evident throughout the summer, with players embracing the challenge of competing against strong programs. Each scrimmage has served as another step in preparing the Lady Mt. Lions for the demands of the upcoming schedule.
As the regular season approaches, Tucker County hopes the hard work, dedication, and experience gained over the summer will translate into success when the matches begin to count. With a new coach leading the program and a team committed to continuous improvement, the Lady Mt. Lions are looking forward to building on their offseason efforts and making an impact this fall.
