LADY MT. LIONS SOFTBALL OPEN SEASON THIS WEEK

The Tucker County Softball team start the 2019 season this week and will look to build from last season. The Lady Mt. Lions will be coached again by AJ Rapp who is back for his second season. Rapp is optimistic about this season as they have 12 players out and Rapp talked about his pitchers that will help this team compete.


This year’s team has some experience returning. Those players McKinley Murphy, Anna DiBacco, Lauren Cockerham, Gracie Rapp, and Gracie Filler to name a few. Coach Rapp is excited about the incoming freshmen coming in this season saying, “A lot of girls coming in this year that have played a lot of softball.” Rapp also added, “We have 2-3 girls coming in this season that can pitch for us, as opposed to last year when we basically had 1 girl pitching.” The girls that will be asked to contribute for the pitching mound are Kristen Hicks, Erin Cassidy and Haley Tuttle.

The schedule this year features 25 games total and 11 of those game will be at home at Camp Kidd Park outside of Parsons. The Lady Mt. Lions compete in the PVC Conference which is one of the top Conferences in the State. In the Conference and Region is teams such as East Hardy, Moorefield and Pendleton County which are the top programs in Softball year in and year out. Tucker County will also face “AAA” Preston in a set of double headers, they will travel to Pocahontas County and host Notre Dame then they will compete in a number of home and away contest against Tygarts Valley, Liberty, Elkins, Grafton and Frankfort as well. A trip to Doddridge County will see them face Doddridge County and Wirt County at Doddridge County on the same day.

Come out and support these Lady’s as they were scheduled to open their season on the road at Frankfort on March 21st at 4pm. Tucker County will open at home on March 25th against Moorefield. Check out the full schedule and follow the team all year at TuckerCountySports.Com.
