The Tucker County Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Summersville, WV, last week to participate in the Winter Classic and take on the defending AAA state champions from Wayne County. The Pioneers jumped out to a 17-0 lead against the Mt. Lions, who took some time to settle in after the long holiday layoff. At the end of the first period, Wayne led 24-7, extending that lead to 38-15 going into halftime.

The Lady Mt. Lions found their rhythm in the second half, outscoring Wayne 15-11 in the third quarter and 13-11 in the fourth. However, the deficit was too great to overcome, and Tucker fell 60-43.
