The Tucker County Mt. Lions volleyball teams had a short week as they traveled to Maryland to face off against the Southern Garrett Rams. Despite a tough showing, both JV and Varsity fell short in hard-fought matches.
The Junior Varsity squad managed to take one set out of three. The first set was a nail-biter, with the Mt. Lions narrowly losing 25-23. They bounced back impressively to claim the second set, but Southern Garrett ultimately secured the decisive third set, reaching 15 points first.
Varsity competition was just as exciting. The Mt. Lions battled through two intense opening sets, dropping them 26-24 and 27-25 before Southern Garrett carried its momentum into the third set to complete the sweep.
The Mt. Lions now look forward to a tri-match against Pocahontas and Lincoln on Monday, October 12, which is also Senior Night. Moorefield comes to town on Tuesday, and the Elkins Lady Tigers come to visit TC at home on Thursday.
