LIONS BASEBALL TIE WITH TYGARTS VALLEY, FALL TO EAST HARDY

PARSONS – The Tucker County Baseball team hosted Tygarts Valley on Wednesday May 1st.  The Mt. Lions battled the Bulldogs to a 4-4 tie.  The game had to be called a tie because of issues with the field lights.

The game went scoreless through 2 innings, until Tygarts Valley got on the scoreboard with 1 run in the top of the 3rd inning.  Tucker County responded in the bottom of the 3rd as they plated 2 runs to give the Mt. Lions the 2-1 lead after 3 innings.  The visiting Bulldogs would add 1 run in the 4th inning and 1 run in the top of 5th inning to pit the score to 3-2 Tygarts Valley.  Tucker County then tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the 5th.  The Bulldogs then put another run on the board in the 6th inning to put Tygarts Valley up 4-3.  Tucker County then tied the game in the bottom of the 7th inning 4-4.  This would force the game into extra innings, but the field lights were not functioning properly, so it was decided to call the game a tie at 4-4.

Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County with 3 hits on 4 at bats and Justin Robeson added 2 hits for the Mt. Lions.  Nate Ricottilli had 1 hit(double) and Maddox Anderson chipped in with 1 hit for Tucker County.  Xander Lambert and Blaike Adams would add 1 hit each for the Mt. Lions as they collected 9 hits total.

Ethan Rosenau got the start on the mound for Tucker County as he went 4 innings, while Robeson and Anderson entered the game in relief.

 

BAKER – The Mt. Lions closed out the regular season on Thursday May 2nd at East Hardy.  Tucker County struggled at the plate as the Cougars took the victory 12-2.

East Hardy scored first as they plated 1 run in the 1st inning to get the 1-0 lead after 1 inning.  The Cougars would produce 3 runs in the 3rd inning to increase their lead to 4-0 after 3 innings.  East Hardy then exploded for 6 runs in the 4th inning to take a commanding 10-0 lead after 4 innings.  Tucker County then got on the scoreboard in the top of the 5th inning as they plated 2 runs to cut the Cougars lead to 10-2.  East Hardy then responded in the bottom of the 5th with 2 runs to end the contest by the final score of 12-2.

Tucker County was led at the plate by Nate Ricottilli with a double and Ethan McCrum had 1 single for the Mt. Lions in the loss.

Nate Ricottilli got the start on the mound for Tucker County as Xander Lambert and Justin Robeson entered the game in relief.
