LIONS BASKETBALL FALL AT EAST HARDY, WIN AT SOUTHERN,MD

BAKER – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team traveled to East Hardy on Thursday January 26th for an away home game with the Cougars.  The Mt. Lions got down early, and Tucker County could not complete the comeback as East Hardy picked up the big PVC Conference win 58-53.

The Cougars raced out to an early lead as they led Tucker County 18-8 after one quarter of play.  The Mt. Lions fought back in the second as they outscored East Hardy 8-5 in the second to make the halftime score 23-16 Cougars.

East Hardy would edge Tucker County in the third quarter 17-16 to put the score at 40-32 Cougars heading into the fourth quarter.  In the fourth quarter the Mt. Lions outscored East Hardy 21-18, but the Cougars held off Tucker County to capture the win 58-53.

Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County in scoring with 18 points.  The Mt. Lions JV team got the win over East Hardy 57-40.

 

OAKLAND, MD – The Mt. Lions traveled to Southern Garrett, MD on Friday January 27th for a matchup with the Rams.  Tucker County rallied back from a halftime deficit to get the win 56-40.

The first quarter was controlled by the home team as Southern led after one quarter 12-7.  The Mt. Lions edged the Rams in the second quarter 13-12 to make the halftime score 54-20 Southern.

The Tucker County defense then clamped down on the Rams as they held Southern to just 6 points in the third and the Mt. Lions scored 13 points to put Tucker County ahead after three quarters 40-33.  The defense for the visiting Mt. Lions continued to dominate the fourth as Tucker County outscored Southern 16-7 in the fourth to give the Mt. Lions the victory by the score of 56-40.

Trevan Bonner led Tucker County in scoring with 23 points in the Mt. Lions win.  The Tucker County JV team also picked up a win in overtime by the score of 41-37.

Tucker County(9-4) will return to action Thursday February 2nd as they will travel to Gilmer County.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
