The TCHS baseball team played three games last week, all with similar outcomes. Tucker started the week off with a matchup against the perennial contenders from Franklin, WV, the Pendleton County Wildcats. The Mt. Lions collected just one hit in the game on a Josh Moore single. The Wildcats overwhelmed Tucker, taking the win 19-0.
TCHS would then play host to another quality baseball program as they welcomed the Vikings of Petersburg High School. Tucker wouldn’t find much more production at the plate in this one, as Owen Helmick notched both hits in the game on two singles. Evan Witt and Josh Crossland both dished out three strikeouts in the game, but Tucker would fall 14-0.
The Mt. Lions stayed home for their final matchup of the week, hosting the Clay-Battelle Cee Bees. Tucker had three players single in the game for a total of three hits from Helmick, Witt, and Brock Hovatter. Helmick pitched 3-2/3 innings and accounted for five strikeouts, but Tucker would be shut out for the third time in the week, 11-0.
Tucker will return to the field on Monday, April 20th, with a home bout slated with the Tygarts Valley Bulldogs.
