HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team hosted the defending “A” State Champions in Notre Dame. The Irish got the road victory by the final score of 81-73.
In the first quarter Notre Dame got off to a quick lead but the Mt. Lions fought back late in the quarter to make the score 24-13 Notre Dame after one quarter of play. The second quarter was played pretty even as the visiting Irish outscored Tucker County by a slim margin 22-21 to make the halftime score 46-34 Notre Dame.
Notre Dame extended their lead in the third quarter as they outshot the Mt. Lions 21-12 to take the Irish to a 67-46 advantage after three quarters. Tucker County then made a late push in the fourth quarter as they outscored Notre Dame 27-14 in the final quarter, but Notre Dame took home the victory by the final score of 81-73.
Wesley Snyder led Tucker County with 21 points and Corrick Ambrose had 19 points, 7 rebounds. Brandon Zirk chipped in 11 points for the Mt. Lions and Cameron Wamsley led Tucker County on the boards with 9 rebounds in the loss for the Mt. Lions. The Tucker County JV team fell in their game 52-46.
