HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team hosted Trinity for the final regular season game on Wednesday February 22nd. The Mt. Lions had a cold night of shooting and could not complete a comeback to fall in the contest 63-52.
The first quarter showed both teams battling back and forth as Trinity pulled ahead after one quarter 15-11. Trinity would then extend their lead in the second quarter as they outscored the Mt. Lions 17-10 to make the score 32-21 at the half.
Tucker County made a run in the third quarter, but the visiting Warriors fought right back to outpace Tucker County 17-14 in the third to push the Trinity lead to 49-35. The Mt. Lions would fight back again in the fourth quarter as they held a 17-14 advantage in the quarter, but that was not enough as Trinity took home the victory by the final score of 63-52.
Ethan Crosten led Tucker County with 25 points, 6 steals and Kordell Fulton followed with 12 points. Josh Kincaid added 10 points, 5 rebounds and Jakob Cousin pulled down a team high 15 rebounds in the loss for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions JV team fell in their final game of the season 58-53.
Tucker County(13-9) was scheduled to host Harman on Monday February 27th for a Sectional Playoff game. If the Mt. Lions win on Monday they will host the winner of East Hardy / Paw Paw game tonight Wednesday March 1st at 7pm.
