MT. LIONS FALL TO MOOREFIELD ON THE ROAD 45-14

MOOREFIELD – The Tucker County Football team traveled to Moorefield on Friday September 17th.  The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 18-0 lead after one quarter and Moorefield went on to win the contest by the final score of 45-14.

 

The home team got on the scoreboard first with a 17 yard touchdown run with 9:20 left in the first quarter.  The PAT kick was blocked to keep the score at 6-0 Moorefield.  The Yellowjackets would score again in the first quarter on a 31 yard touchdown pass and catch.  The PAT kick was blocked again to make the score 12-0 Moorefield with 9:04 left in the first quarter.  The Mt. Lions could not sustain a drive and the Moorefield offense got the ball again.  Then with 3:55 left in the first quarter the Yellowjackets would strike again on a 4 yard touchdown run.  The PAT was no good to put the score at 18-0 after one quarter of play.

There was only one score in the second quarter as Moorefield got into the endzone on a 5 yard touchdown run with 6:57 left in the first half.  The 2 point conversion was good to make the score 26-0 Moorefield.  The Mt. Lions then drove the ball down the field, but an interception by the Yellowjackets stopped the Tucker County drive.  Moorefield led at the halftime break 26-0.

 

In the third quarter Moorefield would add 2 scores.  The home team scored on a 51 yard touchdown run and a 4 yard touchdown run to push the score to 39-0 Yellowjackets after three quarters of play.

The Mt. Lions then got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter on a 2 yard touchdown run by Ethan Rosenau.  The PAT failed to make the score 39-6.  Moorefield then answered back with a score on a 2 yard touchdown run.  The PAT kick failed to put the Yellowjacket lead up to 45-6.  Tucker County would end the scoring with a 61 yard touchdown run by Jared Reall.  The 2 point conversion was good to put the final score of the game at 45-14 Moorefield.

Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County with 14 of 25 passing for 140 yards and Jared Reall led the Mt. Lions in rushing with 9 carries and 70 yards.  Blaike Adams added 4 receptions for 33 yards receiving while Jacob Barrett had 2 catches for 29 yards and JJ Knotts collected 2 receptions for 27 yards.  Dom Mullenax led the Mt. Lions defense with 6 tackles.  Wesley Strawderman and Owen Knotts added 5 tackles each for Tucker County in the loss.
