The Lady Mt. Lions started their week off on Monday the 28th against one of the top teams in single A softball in the Pendleton County Lady Wildcats. Hits were hard to come by for Tucker, as they managed just one hit in the bout by Makenna Evans, to Pendleton’s 13 in the contest.

Tucker would eventually fall with a final score of 15-0. The Lady Mt. Lions would then travel to Petersburg on Tuesday the 29th to take on one of the top teams in AA in the Lady Vikings. Tucker would collect hits from Makenna Evans, Peyton Hicks, Sutton Pase and Isabel Bennett in route to the 10-2 loss.

Tucker would then make the short trip North on Wednesday the 30th to take on the Southern Garrett (MD) Rams. Tucker Sophomore Peyton Hicks would collect 3 singles and one double from Ava Shaffer, Makenna Evans and Lilly Collar would both notch a single in the 7-1 loss.

Tucker would return to action on Friday May 2nd as they would travel to Kingwood for a double header with Preston County. Senior Sutton Pase would drive in 3 runs, while Peyton Hicks and Rylee White would both drive in 2 more. Hicks would earn the win for the Mt. Lions giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, with Ava Shaffer earning the save giving up 5 hits and 4 runs, in route to a 13-7 win for Tucker.

The second matchup with Preston would prove to have a much more dramatic ending; at the top of the 7th and final inning the score was tied at 7 runs apiece. With no outs and no runners on “Big Bad Bella Louks” would step to the plate and stare down the opposing pitcher. With a 2-1 count against her Louks turned on the next pitch sending it high over the left center field wall giving Tucker the 8-7 lead over Preston, that would ultimately be the game winning “dinger”.

Louks would also finish the game with a game high, 4 RBI’s, Hicks would again earn the win with Shaffer garnering the save. The Lady Mt. Lions will now turn to post season play, with sectional play beginning Tuesday May 6th and Wednesday May 7th at home against East Hardy, the first pitch is set for 6:00pm.
