Rylee White steps to the plate for the Lady Mt. Lions.

By: Adam Freeman

After Tucker County Softball got their first win of the season against Tygarts Valley last week, the ladies of the diamond dropped three straight. Tucker first played host to the Southern Garrett (MD) Rams, where TC trailed early and was never able to get over the hump, only collecting two hits in the match, both by Peyton Hicks. Tucker ultimately fell in the contest at a final score of 12-2 in favor of the Rams.

Tucker would then hit the road for their next two games, first traveling to perennial contenders from Petersburg. Tucker found themselves leading 1-0 through the first three innings before surrendering six runs to the Vikings in the bottom of the fourth, which led to the downfall of the Mt. Lions 9-1. Tucker again collected just two hits this time, one from Hicks and one from Becca Pase.

Tucker wrapped up the week with a trip to Glenville to take on the Gilmer County Titans. Tucker had a similar situation as their previous game, surrendering a huge bottom of the fourth as they allowed seven runs to the Titans for the final score of 9-0. The Mt. Lions’ struggles at the plate continued as Tucker’s Bella Loucks collected the team’s only hit on the evening. With the losses, Tucker falls to an overall record of 1-5, but with plenty of games still to go. Tucker’s next matchup will be at Pendleton County on Tuesday, the 14th, at 6:00 p.m.
