PARSONS – The Tucker Valley Middle School football team hosted undefeated Philippi Middle School last Thursday October 8th in Parsons. The Wildcats put points on the scoreboard, but they were unable to slow down the Philippi offense to fall in the contest 46-24.
The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first to lead early in the first quarter 8-0. Tucker Valley battled back and got a score, but the 2 point conversion failed to make the score 8-6 Philippi. In the second quarter Philippi scored to put the score to 14-8. Then with 3:30 left in the first half the Bulldogs struck again to extend their lead to 22-6. Tucker Valley then came right back with a touchdown, but the PAT failed to make the score 22-12. Philippi would add one more score with 26 seconds left in the second quarter and the PAT was good to give the Bulldogs the 30-12 lead at halftime.
Tucker Valley was held scoreless in the third quarter, but Philippi added another score in the period to up their lead to 38-12 after three quarters. In the fourth quarter Tucker Valley got their offense going again and capped a drive with a touchdown with 4:36 left in the contest to cut into the lead 38-18. Philippi would then answer with another score and a successful PAT to make the score 46-18. The Wildcats then added another score late in the contest, but fell in the game by the final score of 46-24.
Raine McCauley led the Wildcats with 72 yards rushing, 1 TD and 140 yards receiving, 2 TD’s. Will White finished with 114 yards rushing, 1 TD and Liam hood added 140 yards passing, 2 TD’s. This is the 3rd game this season that Hood has over 100 yards passing.
