The Mt. Lions of Tucker County High School football made the trip across the Allegheny Plateau on their way to Franklin, WV, to take on the Pendleton County Wildcats. The game started off back and forth, with neither team finding the end zone in the opening period.

In the second period, Pendleton would find pay dirt on a long 78-yard catch-and-run and a five-yard pass before the half to take a small two-score lead into halftime at 14-0.

The third period would be a coffin quarter for Tucker, as the Wildcats would score four touchdowns and then another in the fourth to shut out the Mt. Lions 48-0.

Pendleton would go for over 300 yards through the air on Tucker and over another 100 on the ground. The youthful Mt. Lions would struggle to get their footing on offense, with 87 passing yards and 105 rushing.

Sophomore QB Branson Hyre ended the game 6-of-23 passing for 87 yards and one interception, along with 14 carries for 61 yards rushing. Senior leader Cade Rapp accounted for 36 yards on 17 carries. Evan Witt and Brayden Bennett both collected two catches for 32 yards and 26 yards, respectively.

On defense, Hyre, Rapp, Sawyer Fansler, and Evan Hexom all had three solo tackles. Tucker falls to a record of 2-4, with a bye week slated for this week, and then the Southern Garrett (MD) Rams come to Parsons on Oct. 16 for a Homecoming Night matchup.
