The Tucker County Mt. Lions baseball team had a rough week, dropping three games in three days. To start the stretch, Tucker took on the Paw Paw Pirates. The Pirates held a narrow 1–0 lead after the first inning, but Tucker bounced back in the third inning, scoring two runs to take a 2–1 lead. Tucker added another run to start the fifth but gave up four in the bottom of the inning to fall behind 5–2. Tucker scored again in the sixth, but it wasn’t enough, as Paw Paw took the win, 6–3.
Josh Crossland was the lone Mt. Lion with two hits, while Brock Hovatter and Parker Newman each notched one hit for Tucker.
TC then traveled to Petersburg, where Tucker came out with some life, scoring two runs to start the game. Unfortunately, those would be the only runs Tucker scored, as Petersburg pulled away for a 14–2 win. Hovatter collected two hits, while Crossland, Owen Bolyard, Evan Witt, and Owen Helmick each had one.
Tucker finished the week with a road trip to face the defending state champion East Hardy Cougars. Tucker was shut out in this one, 15–0, collecting four hits in the game, two from Josh Moore and one each from Newman and Hovatter.
Tucker will travel to Pendleton County on Monday, the 6th. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
