TUCKER BASEBALL FALL IN SECTIONAL GAMES, SEASON ENDS

FRANKLIN – The Mt. Lions Baseball team opened Sectionals on the road against Pendleton County on Monday May 8th.  The homestanding Wildcats got onto the scoreboard first with 2 runs in the 2nd inning to take a 2-0 lead after 2 innings.  Pendleton County would then add 1 run in the 3rd inning to push their lead to 3-0 after 3 innings.  Tucker County could not get their offense going and the Wildcats added 1 run in the 5th inning to make the score 4-0 Pendleton County.  The game would end with the score the same as the Mt. Lions fell in the contest by the score of 4-0.

Tucker County had 4 hits in the game.  Xander Lambert led the Mt. Lions at the plate with 2 hits, while Justin Robeson and Ethan Rosenau added 1 hit each in the Tucker County loss.  Mason Kisamore went the distance on the mound for the Mt. Lions.  Kisamore pitched a great game as he allowed just 4 hits while striking out 5 batters.

 

MOOREFIELD – Tucker County would then travel to Moorefield on Thursday May 11th for a Sectional Elimination game at the Yellowjackets.  The Mt. Lions scored in the top of the 1st inning to lead 1-0, but Moorefield answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to give the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead after 1 inning.  Moorefield would then add 1 run in the 2nd inning to make the score 3-1.  Tucker County then plated 1 run in the top of the 3rd inning, but Moorefield answered again in the bottom of the 3rd with 1 run to put the score to 4-2 after 3 innings.  The Yellowjackets bats then came alive in the bottom of the 4th inning as Moorefield scored 6 runs in the inning to push the Moorefield lead to 10-2.  The Mt. Lions then got their offense going in the 5th inning as they had 5 runs cross the plate to make the score 10-7 Moorefield after 5 innings.  Tucker County then added 1 run in the top of the 6th inning to trim the lead to 10-8.  The Yellowjackets then responded in the bottom of the 6th inning as they scored 4 runs to extend their lead to 14-8.  Tucker County was not able to score in the top of the 7th inning and the game ended with the final score of 14-8 Moorefield.  

Ethan Rosenau got the start on the mound for the Mt. Lions and allowed 6 hits.  Justin Robeson entered the game in relief for Tucker County and allowed 4 hits.  The Mt. Lions had 13 hits in the contest.  Mason Kisamore(1 double) and Xander Lambert led Tucker County at the plate with 3 hits each.  Maddox Anderson, Reid Kisamore and Justin Robeson had 2 hits each for the Mt. Lions, while Ethan Rosenau chipped in with 1 hit in the loss.  The loss ended the season for Tucker County.  Congrats to Senior’s Mason Kisamore and Dom Mullenax on their TCHS career.  For more information go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
