TUCKER COUNTY BOYS’ BASKETBALL CRUISE TO WIN AT MOOREFIELD 72-39

MOOREFIELD – The Mt. Lions Basketball team traveled to Moorefield on Friday January 6th for a contest with the Yelllowjackets.  Tucker County got the lead early in the game and never looked back as they got the road win 72-39 over Moorefield.

The first quarter belonged to the Mt. Lions as they led 16-7 after one quarter of play.  Tucker County would control the second quarter as they outscored the Yellowjackets 22-10 in the second to make the halftime score 38-17 Mt. Lions.

Tucker County added to their lead in the third quarter as the Mt. Lions outpaced Moorefield 20-7 in the third to push the score to 58-24 at the end of the third.  Moorefield would edge Tucker County 15-14 in the fourth, but the Mt. Lions would capture the road win by the final score of 72-39.

Trevan Bonner led Tucker County with 17 points, 6 rebounds and Ashton Lycliter added 14 points, 8 rebounds.  Maddox Anderson had 11 points and Owen Knotts added 10 points, 12 rebounds for the Mt. Lions in the win.  The Tucker County JV also got the win at Moorefield 35-28.  The Mt. Lions JV team also defeated the Union Varsity 56-22 at home on January 5th.

 

Tucker County(4-2) will return to action on Friday January 6th at the Tyler Consolidated Tournament against defending Class “A” State Champions James Monroe at 6pm.  The Mt. Lions will also play at Tyler Consolidated on Saturday January 7th in the Consolation or Championship game depending on the result of Friday’s game.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
