TUCKER COUNTY BOYS’ BASKETBALL GET WINS OVER LEWIS AND PENDLETON

HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team hosted Lewis County on Tuesday December 14th.  Tucker County started out slow, but the home team fought back for a 49-37 home victory.

The first quarter belonged to the visiting Minutemen as they led the Mt. Lions after one quarter 6-2.  Tucker County fought back in the second quarter as their offense exploded for 20 points and held Lewis County to 10 points to give Tucker County the lead at the half by the score of 22-16.

The third quarter scoring was even as Lewis County edged the Mt. Lions 13-11 in the period to make the score 33-29 at the start of the fourth quarter.  Tucker County then controlled the final quarter as they outscored the Minutemen 16-8 to give the Mt. Lions their first win of the season by the final score of 49-37.

Aaron Quattro led Tucker County in scoring with 11 points.  Ashton Lycilter and Zach Long added 10 points each for the Mt. Lions in the win.  Levi Bennett led Tucker County in rebounding with 11 boards.  The Mt. Lions JV team got the win also 66-61.

 

HAMBLETON – Tucker County hosted PVC rival Pendleton County on Friday December 17th.  The Mt. Lions pulled away in the second quarter and held on late to capture a big win over the Wildcats by the final score of 45-39.

The first quarter was close as defense was the theme as the Mt. Lions held a slim 8-7 lead after one quarter.  The second quarter was controlled slightly by Tucker County 14-10 to make the halftime score 22-17 Mt. Lions.

Tucker County outpaced Pendleton County 6-5 in the third quarter to put the score to 28-22 Mt. Lions after three quarters.  Pendleton County tried to rally back in the fourth quarter, but Tucker County held off the Wildcats to capture the big home win by the final score of 45-39.

Haden Wamsley led Tucker County with 14 points and Levi Bennett added 11 points for the Mt. Lions in the win.  Owen Knotts chipped in with 8 points and 8 rebounds also for Tucker County.  The Tucker County JV team fell in the first game 49-44.

 

Tucker County (2-1) will return to action on Tonight Wednesday December 29th at Elkins High School against Meadow Bridge at 6:30pm.  The Mt. Lions will then play Tygarts Valley on Thursday December 30th at Elkins High School with tipoff scheduled for 7:45pm.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
