HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions hosted East Hardy on Tuesday January 22nd. Tucker County pulled away from the Cougars in the second half to pick up the victory by the final score of 62-47.
The visiting Cougars fought hard in the first quarter as they led the Mt. Lions after one quarter of play 14-13. Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter as Tucker County edged East Hardy in the period 5-4 to make the score 18-18 at the half.
Tucker County would get the advantage in the third quarter as the offense started to pick up. The Mt. Lions outscored East Hardy 21-14 in the third to give Tucker County the 39-32 lead after three quarters of play. The final quarter would belong to the Mt. Lions as they exploded for a 23-15 advantage in the fourth quarter to give Tucker County the win by the final score of 62-47.
Jeffrey Snyder led Tucker County with 26 points and Wyatt Betler added 12 points. Corrick Ambrose chipped in with 11 points and Cameron Wamsley collected 9 rebounds to lead the Mt. Lions on the boards.
HAMBLETON – Tucker County entertained state ranked Notre Dame on Friday January 25th. The Mt. Lions came out hot and looked poised to pull off the upset, but the Irish built a lead and held off Tucker County to get the victory over the Mt. Lions by the final score of 83-73.
The first quarter belonged to Tucker County as they made shots and the Mt. Lions pushed the pace of the game to take a 20-18 lead after one quarter of play. Notre Dame battled back in the second quarter as they outpaced Tucker County in the second 23-16 to make the halftime score 41-36 Notre Dame.
The Irish the controlled the third quarter 25-14 to extend their lead to 66-50 after three quarters. The Mt. Lions made a run in the fourth as they cut into the Notre Dame lead with a 23-17 Tucker County edge in the fourth quarter wasn’t enough. Notre Dame would get the win by the final score of 83-73.
Jeffrey Snyder led Tucker County with 32 points, 13 rebounds and Corrick Ambrose added 21 points, 6 rebounds. Cameron Wamsley pulled down 8 rebounds and dished out 8 assists for the Mt. Lions in the loss.
