TUCKER COUNTY BOYS COLLECT WINS AT EAST HARDY AND AT NOTRE DAME

BAKER – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team traveled to East Hardy on January 23rd. Tucker County jump out to a quick lead in the first quarter and never slowed down in route to a 64-50 win.


The Mt. Lions got their offense going early as they exploded in the first quarter to take a big lead after one 24-8. Tucker County continued to get it done on offense in the second quarter as they outpaced the Cougars 17-16 to make the halftime score 41-24 Tucker County.

East Hardy fought back in the third as they outscored the Mt. Lions 14-9 to cut the Tucker County lead to 50-38 after three quarters. Tucker County then outshot the home team 14-12 in the final quarter to give them the road victory over the Cougars by the final score of 64-50.

Corrick Ambrose led Tucker County with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Wesley Snyder added 20 points, 4 assists for the Mt. Lions and Jeffrey Snyder chipped in with 10 points for Tucker County in the win. The Tucker County JV team fell in the first contest 53-47.

CLARSKBURG – Tucker County traveled to Notre Dame on Friday January 26th. The Mt. Lions raced out to a big lead and held off a late charge by the Irish to collect the big road victory at Notre Dame by the final score of 66-59.

The first quarter belonged to Tucker County as the outscored the home team to make the score 16-10 after one quarter. The Mt. Lions continued to shoot the ball well in the second quarter and Tucker County outpaced Notre Dame in the second 21-8 to push the Mt. Lions lead to 37-18 at the halftime intermission.

Tucker County continued the pace in the third as they outscored Notre Dame 16-15 to make the Mt. Lions lead 53-33 after three. The Irish made a run in the fourth as they outshot Tucker County 26-13, but that was not enough to complete the comeback as the Mt. Lions picked up the big road victory by the final score of 66-59.

Alec Cummings led Tucker County with 17 points. Brandon Zirk added 14 points and Corrick Ambrose had 13 points, 10 revbounds for the Mt. Lions in the win.

Tucker County(8-7) will travel to Notre Dame on Friday January 26th for a varsity only contest at 7:30pm in Clarksburg. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
