TUCKER COUNTY BOYS’ DROP A PAIR OF GAMES AT GLENVILLE STATE

GLENVILLE – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Glenville State on Wednesday December 12th for a matchup with Class “AA” Bridgeport. The Indians proved to be a tough challenge for Tucker County as they got the opening round victory in the IOGA Tournament by the final score of 100-71.

The Mt. Lions kept pace in the first quarter as they trailed Bridgeport by 9 after one quarter 24-15. The Indians then extended their lead in the second quarter as they outscored Tucker County 24-17 in the period to make the score 48-32 Bridgeport at the half.

The Indians again outpaced the Mt. Lions 28-22 in the third quarter to push the lead to 76-54 Bridgeport after three. Tucker County then lost the fourth quarter as the Indians picked up the win by the final score of 100-71 to advance to the Championship Game of the IOGA Tournament.

Jeffrey Snyder led Tucker County with 26 points, 10 rebounds and Corrick Ambrose chipped in with 22 points, 9 assists. Cameron Wamsley also made double figures in scoring with 14 points for the Mt. Lions in the loss.

GLENVILLE – Tucker County traveled back to Glenville State on Friday December 14th to play Class “AA” Nicholas County in the IOGA Tournament Consolation game. The Mt. Lions hung tough until the final quarter, but the Grizzlies took home the victory by the final score of 82-74.

Tucker County answered every run by Nicholas County in the first quarter as the Mt. Lions trailed 22-17 after one quarter. Tucker County rallied back in the second as they outscored the Grizzlies 16-14 in the period to make the score 36-33 Nicholas County at the half.

The game remained close through the third quarter as Mt. Lions trailed 55-51 at the end of the third quarter. Nicholas County pulled away in the fourth quarter and Tucker County had to start fouling. The game came to an end as Nicholas County picked up the win by the final score of 82-74.

Corrick Ambrose led Tucker County with 7 three point baskets and 30 points. Ambrose also added 7 assists and Jeffrey Snyder scored 20 points, 10 rebounds. Sophomore Wyatt Betler also reached double figures with 14 points in the loss for Tucker County.

Tucker County(0-3) will travel to Notre Dame on Friday December 21st with the JV contest set to start at 5:45pm and the varsity game after. The Mt. Lions will then travel to Preston on Saturday December 22nd with the JV contest at 4pm and varsity action to follow. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
