Tucker County cross country opens season at St. Marys

ST. MARYS – The Mt. Lions Boys’ and Girls’ Cross Country team opened the season on Saturday August 21st as they competed at the Autumn Classic at St. Marys High School.

In the Girls’ race Erin Chambers brought home a top 10 finish as she placed 7th with a time of 21:16.93. There was a total of 14 teams competing in the Girls’ event and 154 runners in the Girls’ race. The Lady Mt. Lions placed 9th overall as a team. Overall Tucker County Girls’ Results: 7th-Erin Chambers(21:16.93), 28th-Hannah Hardy(22:27.85), 36th-Katie Hicks(22:49.40), 103rd-Brianna Gooden(26:53.64), 119th-Addie Hicks(27:59.95) and 133rd-Kristen Hicks(29:18.99)

Clay Poling was the top finisher for Tucker County on August 21st at the Autumn Classic in St. Marys.

The top finisher for the TCHS Boys’ team was Clay Poling with a 74th place finish with a time of 21:00.76. The race for the Boys’ featured 15 teams and 169 runners. The Mt. Lions Boys’ team finished 13th as a team. Overall Tucker County Boys’ Results: 74th-Clay Poling(21:00.76), 86th-Haden Wamsley(21:44.63), 94th-Wesley Strawderman(21:58.66), 98th-Trent Eure(22:14.65) and 158th-Alan Boyles(36:54.34).

The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams will return to action on Saturday August 28th at Robert C Byrd High School for the RCB Flying Eagle Invitational at 9am. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
