TUCKER COUNTY GIRLS’ CAPTURE HOLIDAY CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted the Mt. Storm Power Station Holiday Classic on December 28th and December 29th at TCHS.  In the first game on Wednesday December 28th the Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team played Union.  The Lady Mt. Lions got the win over the Lady Tigers by the final score of 65-28.

The first quarter belonged to Tucker County as they raced out to a 25-4 lead after one quarter.  The Lady Mt. Lions won the second quarter 13-8 to push the Tucker County lead to 38-12 at the halftime break.

Tucker County would outscore Union in the third quarter 15-10 to put the score to 53-22.  The fourth quarter was also won by the Lady Mt. Lions 12-6 to give Tucker County the win by the score of 65-28.

The Lady Mt. Lions were led in scoring by Macy Helmick who connected on 5 three point baskets to score 21 points and 5 assists.  Kadie Colebank added 10 points for Tucker County and Addie Hicks added 9 points.  Ericka Zirk and Avery Colebank collected 8 rebounds each for the Lady Mt. Lions.  In the first game of the Mt. Storm Power Station Holiday Classic James Monroe defeated Frankfort at the buzzer 35-34.

 

HAMBLETON – In the Championship game of The Mt. Storm Power Station Holiday Classic, the Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team faced off against James Monroe on Thursday December 29th.  The Lady Mt. Lions pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat the Lady Mavericks by the score of 55-46.  

Tucker County led after the first quarter by the score of 13-8.  The second quarter was back and forth as the Lady Mt. Lions edged James Monroe 11-9 in the quarter to give Tucker County the 24-17 lead at halftime.

James Monroe would fight back in the third as they outscored Tucker County 18-13 to make the score 37-35 Tucker County after three.  The Lady Mt. Lions would pull away in the fourth quarter as they outpaced the Lady Mavericks 18-11 in the final quarter to get the win over James Monroe 55-46.

Tucker County was led by Kadie Colebank with 27 points, 12 rebounds and Ericka Zirk added 10 points, 12 rebounds in the win for the Lady Mt. Lions.  The Lady Mt. Lions JV team picked up a win over Union earlier in the evening 69-13.

In the Consolation Game of the Tournament Frankfort defeated Union 60-20.  The following players were named to the Mt. Storm Power Station Holiday Classic: Victoria Seabolt(Union), Arin Lease(Frankfort), Adyson Hines(James Monroe), Maggie Boroski(James Monroe), Macy Helmick(Tucker County), Kadie Colebank(Tucker County).   

 

Tucker County(6-0) will return to action on Friday January 6th at Gilmer County.  The JV game will start at 5:45pm with the varsity contest following the JV contest.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
