HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted PVC Rival Moorefield on Tuesday February 7th. Tucker County held Moorefield to just 4 field goals in the whole game to capture the win over the Lady Yellowjackets 61-17.
The Tucker County offense had a great first quarter as they led after one quarter 18-6. The Lady Mt. Lions defense then stepped up in the second as they held Moorefield to 2 points while Tucker County scored 11 points to give the home team a 29-8 halftime lead.
The Lady Mt. Lions continued to build their lead in the third quarter as they outscored the Lady Yellowjackets 19-3 to take a commanding 48-11 lead after three quarters of play. Tucker County would also control the final quarter as well 13-6 to give the Lady Mt. Lions the 61-17 home victory.
The Lady Mt. Lions placed 4 players in double figures as Kadie Colebank led Tucker County with 13 points, 17 rebounds and Macy Helmick added 11 points, 8 assists. Brylee Wetzel had 11 points, 7 steals for the Lady Mt. Lions and Avery Colebank also added 11 points, 5 assists for Tucker County in the win. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team got the win in the first game over Moorefield 32-18.
Tucker County(15-2) will return to action on Thursday February 16th at Notre Dame for a varsity only contest at 7pm. The Lady Mt. Lions will then play in the Sectional Championship in Keyser on Thursday February 23rd against the winner of the East Hardy / Union winner. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
