HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions hosted Tygarts Valley on Wednesday March 2nd for the Co-Regional Championship game. Tucker County used a big second half to run away from Tygarts Valley to capture the 56-31 victory.
The Lady Mt. Lions controlled the first period as Tucker County led after one quarter 17-12. The second quarter was even as both teams scored 12 points in the frame to make the halftime score 29-24 Tucker County.
Tucker County then turned up the defense in the third as the Lady Mt. Lions scored 16 points in the third and held the Lady Bulldogs to 7 points to push the Tucker County lead to 45-31 after three. The fourth quarter was then dominated by the Lady Mt. Lions as they outscored Tygarts Valley 16-0 in the final quarter and Tucker County ended the game on a 21-0 run altogether. The game would end with the Lady Mt. Lions victory by the final score of 56-31.
Senior, Jayden Kuhn led Tucker County with 19 points, 6 steals and Junior, Kadie Colebank added 10 points, 8 rebounds for the Lady Mt. Lions. Brylee Wetzel chipped in 9 points in the win for Tucker County and Macy Helmick pulled down a team high 9 rebounds. Jacey Davis and Avery Colebank also pulled down 7 rebounds each for Tucker County in the win.
Tucker County(18-6) was scheduled to play Tuesday March 8th against Tug Valley in Charleston at the WV Girls’ Basketball State Tournament. The winner of that game will play on Thursday at 11:15am.
