TUCKER COUNTY GIRLS’ END REGULAR SEASON WITH 2 BIG WINS

DUNMORE – The Lady Mt. Lions Basketball team traveled to Class “A” #6 ranked Pocahontas County on Wednesday February 13th. Tucker County pulled away in the third quarter and cruised to a impressive 63-40 road win.

The game was close in the first quarter as the Lady Mt. Lions held a slim 9-8 lead after one quarter. Tucker County would control the second period as they outpaced the Lady Warriors 13-9 to make the halftime score 22-17 Tucker County.

The third quarter was won by the Lady Mt. Lions as they outscored Pocahontas County 18-12 in the third to increase their lead to 11 points as Tucker County led after three quarters 40-29. Defense was the key for the Lady Mt. Lions in the fourth quarter as they dominated the period 23-11 and Tucker County took home the road victory by the score of 63-40.

Terra Kuhn led Tucker County with 17 points, 6 rebounds and Kelcee James added 14 points off the bench for the Lady Mt. Lions. McKinley Murphy had 8 points, 7 assists, 3 steals and Aliyah Plum chipped in with 8 points, 7 rebounds for Tucker County in the win.

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted Pendleton County on Thursday February 14th for the last game of the regular season. The game was never in doubt for the Lady Mt. Lions as they led from start to finish in route to an 83-19 victory.

The first quarter was controlled by Tucker County as they led after one 27-5. The Lady Mt. Lions added to the score in the second with a 19-4 advantage to make the halftime score 46-9.

The third quarter showed a 20-4 edge by Tucker County as the lead increased to 66-13 Tucker County after three. The Lady Mt. Lions controlled the fourth quarter 17-6 to make the final score 83-19.

The Lady Mt. Lions placed 5 players in double figures led by Riley Evans with 14 points, Kelcee James 12 points, Katie Surguy 12 points, Aliyah Plum 11 points and Terra Kuhn 10 points. Tucker County was led in rebounding by James, Plum and Amber Price with 6 boards each.

Tucker County(14-6) will host the winner of Pendleton County / Union in Sectional play tonight February 20th at 7pm. The winner of tonight’s game will travel to Petersburg on Saturday February 23rd for the Sectional Championship at 1pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
