TUCKER COUNTY GIRLS GET WINS AGAINST MOOREFIELD AND POCAHONTAS CO

MOOREFIELD – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Moorefield on Wednesday February 17th to face the Lady Yellow Jackets. Tucker County jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 63-31.

The Lady Mt. Lions led 16-11 after one quarter of play and took a 31-18 advantage into the locker room at the half.

In the third quarter Tucker County continued to pull away as they outscored Moorefield 18-4 in the period to push the score to 49-22 Tucker County. The Lady Mt. Lions then let the reserve players finish the game to get the road victory over Moorefield 63-31.

Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Leslie Nestor and Emily Crosten added 8 points each for Tucker County in the win.

 

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ basketball teams honored their senior players before the Girls’ game on Thursday February 18th. The Lady Mt. Lions was hosting Pocahontas County and they played well as they collected a 60-35 win.

The Tucker County Girls’ senior players who were recognized before the game were: Madison Reall, Leslie Nestor, Lydia Mullenax, Jenna White, Abbey Eye. The Boys’ Basketball players recognized were: Marcus Mason, Sklyer Humphrey and Seth Evans.

The Lady Mt. Lions got a late surge in the first quarter to take a 19-9 lead after one. Tucker County continued to pull away in the second quarter as they outscored the Lady Warriors 15-8. That advantage would give Tucker County a 3417 lead at the half.

The Lady Mt. Lions won the final two quarters of the game and got the home victory 63-31

Elizabeth Nichols led Tucker County with 16 points, 11 rebounds and Sydney Nestor had 12 point, 10 rebounds.

Tucker County(18-3) are scheduled to start Sectional play Tuesday February 23rd and if they win Tuesday they will continue play in the Sectional Final on Thursday February 25th at Elkins High School tip time is scheduled for 7pm. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
