The Tucker County golf team began the week with a home match at Canaan on Tuesday, where TC hosted five other schools. Although the Mountain Lions didn’t have their best effort, they managed to finish with a 172 team total, earning them a fourth-place finish. Seniors Nate Davis and Drew Simmons finished in a tie for eighth individually, each shooting a 41 on the day.
The team would travel to Stonewall Resort on Thursday for a nine-hole varsity and JV match hosted by Lewis County High School. The varsity team would have some success on the day, finishing in second place, just six shots behind Lewis County.
Individually, Tucker had four members finish in the top 10, with Ethan Cummings finishing in 10th, Drew Simmons in eighth, and Carter Wilt finishing in fifth, with his best round of the year, shooting a 43. Senior Nate Davis would earn low-medalist honors with a round of 39.
Tucker JV would finish second in their match, with top performances from freshman Jarrett Dearborn and sophomore Collin Pitzer, finishing third and fifth, respectively.
Next up will be a match at The Pines Country Club in Morgantown on Tuesday and back home at Holly Meadows Golf Course on Wednesday.
