The summer basketball season came to a close this week, and both the Tucker County High School girls’ and boys’ teams finished strong, earning runner-up honors in the 2025 Summer League Championship.
The TCHS girls’ team showed grit and determination throughout the tournament, starting off with victories over Union and Hampshire. Their fast-paced offense and cohesive defense earned them a spot in the semifinals. Though they fell to Keyser in a hard-fought matchup, the Lady Mountain Lions bounced back in the consolation final to defeat Hampshire for a second time, securing the second-place finish.
On the boys’ side, the TCHS squad displayed resilience and skill, beginning their campaign with an impressive win over Frankfort. In the championship game, they faced off against a strong Keyser team in a tightly contested battle that came down to the final moments. Ultimately, Tucker County came up just short, falling by three points and taking home the runner-up spot.
The strong finishes from both the boys’ and girls’ teams reflect the success the programs are accustomed to and set the tone for the upcoming high school basketball season.
