KINGWOOD – The Lady Mt. Lions Softball team traveled to Preston on Wednesday April 18th. Tucker County fell in the contest by the final score of 12-4.
Tucker County would get on the scoreboard first when Gracie Rapp scored when Anna Dibacco hit a triple to drive in the run. Dominique Meadows followed this up two batters later with a towering home run over the left field fence to make the score 3-0 Tucker County early. Preston answered back in the bottom of the 1st inning to tie the game at 3. The Lady Mt. Lions got the bats going again in the 3rd inning as Candy Cross got on base with a leadoff single and then scored off a Gracie Filler RBI single to give Tucker County 1 more run. Emily Simmons also had a base hit in the third, but she was left stranded. The Lady Knights ended the game in the 5th inning after scoring 6 runs and allowed the 8 run rule to come into effect to end the game with the final score of 12-4 Preston. Lauren Cockerham went the distance for Tucker County on the mound.
BAKER – Tucker County traveled to East Hardy on Thursday April 19th for a doubleheader. The Lady Mt. Lions would fall in both games by the final score of 10-0 and 10-0.
The young Lady Mt. Lions squad ran into a powerful East Hardy team and they had a hard time getting their bats to connect. Tucker County collected just 1 hit in the first contest. Dominique Meadows nearly hit another home run as she blasted the ball off the left field fence for a standup double. Unfortunately, this was the only highlight of the game as Tucker County fell in the contest by the final score of 10-0.
In the second game the Lady Mt. Lions registered 5 hits and put runners on base, but they were unable to get runs across the plate. Gracie Rapp led Tucker County at the plate with 2 hits. Anna Dibacco, Emily Simmons and Adrian Nestor also had 1 hit each. Tucker County fell in second game 10-0.
