MT. LIONS BASEBALL FALL IN DOUBLEHEADER AT HOME

PARSONS – The Tucker County Baseball team hosted East Hardy Saturday April 21st for an afternoon doubleheader. The Mt. Lions fell in both games by the score of 21-4 and 17-1.


In the first game the Mt. Lions collected a total of 15 hits in the contest. The score was 8-4 East Hardy in the 7th inning before the Cougars bats came to life as they scored 13 runs in the 7th and Tucker County dropped the contest by the final score of 21-4. Cameron Wamsley, Christian Purnell, Gus Mullennex, Tyler Molone, Shayne Liller and Jordan Moss all collected multiple hits in the game. Wamsley went 3 for 4 at the plate to lead the Mt. Lions in hits. Michael Gherman and Shane Humphrey added one hit each for Tucker County in the loss. Michael Gherman started the game on the mound and gave up seven runs and nine hits over 5 innings of work. Shane Humphrey and Christian Purnell entered the game in relief.

In the second game of the doubleheader East Hardy collected the win also by the final score of 17-1. Cameron Wamsley started the game on the mound and went 2 and 2/3 allowing 12 runs and 13 hits. Shayne Liller and Wesley Snyder entered the game in relief. Wamsley struck out 2 batters, Liller struck out 3 batters and Snyder faced 4 batters, striking out 2 of them. Christian Purnell led Tucker County at the plate as he collected 2 hits in 2 at bats. Shayne Liller also added a double in the 1st inning to give the Mt. Lions just 3 hits in the game.

Tucker County will be back in action tonight Wednesday April 25th at home against Preston. The Mt. Lions will then host Pocahontas County on Friday April 27th at 5pm and then they will face Tygarts Valley at 7pm at home also on Friday night.
