Tucker County track competes at State Meet

CHARLESTON – The Mt. Lions Girls’ and Boys’ Track teams traveled to Laidley Field in Charleston on Wednesday June 9th and Thursday June 10th to compete in the Class “A” State Track Meet.

The Tucker County Girls’ 4x800m Relay team of Karlee Smith, Erin Chambers, Hannah Hardy and Kate Falls had a 6th place finish to capture medals. The Girls’ 4x400m Relay team of Addie Buckley, Erin Chambers, Kate Falls and Karlee Smith finished 8th overall. Kate Falls finished 8th overall in the 800m event and Erin Chambers finished 10th in the 3200m vent on Wednesday evening. The Lady Mt. Lions 4x200m Relay team of Karlee Smith, Zoe Nestor, Lilly Callaway and Addie Buckley finished 13th overall in the event. The Tucker County Girls’ team finished 23rd overall as a team.

The Tucker County Boys’ team top finisher was Tate Mullenax in the Discus Throw with a 7th place finish. Tate Mullenax also had a 9th place finish in the Shot Put event. The Mt. Lions 4x800m Relay team of Devin Witemore, Jakob Barrett, Clay Poling and Wesley Strawderman placed 9th in the event. Tucker County’s 4x400m Relay team of Trent Eure, Haden Wamsley, Wesley Strawderman and Devin Witemore placed 10th overall in the event. Dom Mullenax of Tucker County finished the Discus Throw event with a 16th place finish to round out the finishers for the Tucker County Boys’.

Girls’ Results: 800m: 9th-Kate Falls(2:40.87). 3200m: 10th-Erin Chambers(12:53.94). 4x200m: 13th-K.Smith, Z.Nestor, L.Callaway, A.Buckley(2:01.32). 4x400m: 8th-A.Buckley, E.Chambers, K.Falls, K.Smith(4:41.18). 4x800m: 6th-K.Smith, E.Chambers, H.Hardy, K.Falls(10:56.47). Overall Team Rankings: 1st-Williamstown(130), 2nd-Doddridge County(73), 3rd-Ritchie County(51), 4th-Saint Marys(44), 5th-Magnolia(41), 6th-Charleston Catholic(33), 7th-South Harrison(23), 8th-Paden City(17), 8th-Petersburg(17), 8th-Madonna(17), 11th-Parkersburg Catholic(16), 12th-Tyler Consolidated(15), 13th-Wahama(14), 14th-Union(12), 14th-Buffalo(12), 16th-Tygarts Valley(10), 16th-Trinity(10), 18th-East Hardy(7), 19th-Webster County(4), 19th-Wirt County(4), 21st-Caly-Battelle(2), 21st-Wood County Christian(2), 23rd-Tucker County(1), 23rd-Calhoun County(1), 23rd-Pocahontas County(1).

Discus Throw: 7th-Tate Mullenax(128’00”), 16th-Dom Mullenax(89’02”).
