The Lady Mt. Lions Softball team was scheduled to play five games this past week, but due to weather they only played four going 2-2 overall. They began the week against one of the heavy favorites in the single ‘A’ division taking on the Wildcats of Pendleton County. Tucker would struggle at the plate with Ava Shaffer managing the squad’s lone hit in the bout, while Pendleton smacked in 15 hits. The Lady Mt. Lions would fall in Franklin with a final score of 15-0.

Tucker would rebound from the loss quickly the following night playing host to East Hardy. Ava Shaffer and Peyton Hicks both drove in 4 runs on 3 hits a piece with Sutton Pase driving in 4 more on 2 hits. Shaffer would pitch 3 innings and give up 3 hits with Hicks getting the save pitching 1 inning and giving up 1 hit for a final score of 22-7 in favor of Tucker.

The Mt. Lions would then travel to face the other Hardy County team in the Moorefield Lady Yellowjackets. Tucker would manage just 1 hit for the second time in 3 games, this time from sophomore, Peyton Hicks. Moorefield would score 11 runs on 8 hits and keep the win 11-0 over Tucker.

TCHS would return home on Thursday the 24th for a senior night matchup against the Elkins Tigers. Isabel Bennett would lead the way at the plate for Tucker with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Makenna Evans would score twice for the Mt. Lions on their way to a 4-0 victory over Elkins High. Shaffer pitched a solid 6-1/3 innings allowing just 5 hits, with Hicks garnering the save pitching the final 2/3 of the last inning and allowing no hits to preserve the win.

Tucker currently sets with a .500 record of 7 wins and 7 losses. The Mt. Lions will be back in action on Monday at home against Pendleton County at 5:30pm, at Elkins on Wednesday at 5:00pm, home against Moorefield on Thursday at 6:00pm, a double header on Friday at Preston County at 5:00 and 7:00 and then they close out the busy week Saturday at Gilmer County at 12:00pm.
