Tucker County’s boys basketball team celebrated five players, two statisticians, and six cheerleaders last week at home prior to a matchup with Tygarts Valley High School. Tucker doubled up the Bulldogs in the first quarter, outscoring their opponent 16-8. The Mt. Lions would build on the start, dropping a 20-point second quarter to extend their lead to 15 at the half, holding a 36-21 advantage. Tucker’s lead would continue to grow in the second half as they outscored Tygarts Valley again in the third, holding their foe to just six points in the period to push the lead to 22 points at 49-27. TCHS would put the game on ice in the fourth as all five seniors were able to leave the court together as one unit to the lauds and cheers of the home-standing crowd as Tucker took the win, 66-36.
