TUCKER VALLEY FALLS TO PHILIP-BARBOUR AT HOME 34-22

PARSONS – The Wildcats Middle School Football team hosted Philip-Barbour Middle School last Wednesday September 20th.


The visitors got into the scoring column first as they scored on a 65 yard touchdown run. The PAT try was no good to make the score 6-0 Philip-Barbour with 7:48 left in the first quarter. Tucker Valley would answer in their first possession as they capped off the drive with 3 yard touchdown run by Trenton Wilfong. The 2 point conversion was good on a Lance Brickles run to put Tucker Valley ahead 8-6 with 3:57 left in the first quarter. The next drive from Philip-Barbour would stall and Tucker Valley took over after holding on fourth down.

In the second quarter the Wildcats put together another drive that was finished off on a Wesley Strawderman 7 yard touchdown run with 4:07 left in the second quarter. The PAT attempt was good to make the score 16-6 Tucker Valley. Philip-Barbour would then answer on their next possession with a 31 yard touchdown pass play. The PAT attempt was good to cut the Wildcats lead to 16-14 with 2:51 left in the first half. Tucker Valley extended their lead again with 1:05 left in the second quarter on a Wilfong to Strawderman 16 yard touchdown pass play. The PAT attempt failed to make the Tucker Valley lead 22-14. Philip-Barbour then scored on a 59 yard touchdown pass and the PAT attempt was good to allow a tie score to 22-22 with 44 second left in the second quarter. Philip-Barbour would get the ball back after a Tucker Valley punt. The visitors wasted little time as they scored on a 30 yard touchdown pass with 4 seconds left in the first half. The 2 point attempt failed to make the halftime score 28-22 Philip-Barbour.

In the third quarter Philip-Barbour would hit paydirt again on a fumble recovery runback for a touchdown with 5:09 left in the third quarter. The PAT failed to put the score to 34-22 Philip-Barbour. In the fourth quarter neither team could sustain drives and the game ended with Philip-Barbour picking up the road victory 34-22.
