PARSONS – The Wildcat football team opened the season last Thursday September 4th against Moorefield Middle.

Although the weather was good to start the game that quickly changed and with 11 seconds remaining in the first quarter the game was delayed due to lightning.

Tucker Valley started the game on defense and Moorefield took their offense onto the field. The Yellowjackets then fumbles the ball after a long pass play and Tucker Valley recovered on their own 32 yard line. The Wildcats then drove the ball straight down the field on an 8 play 68 yard drive that was capped off by Cole Rapp on a 24 yard touchdown run with 18 seconds left in the first quarter. The 2 point conversion was no good and Tucker Valley led 6-0.

Moorefield then received the kick from the Wildcats and returned it to their 40 yard line. Then the officials cleared the field due to lighting and both teams waited. The officials came back out on the field 1 hour and 15 minutes later and canceled the game due to the lightning that was still present. A make-up date has not been scheduled at this time.

Mason Johnson had 4 carries for 36 yards rushing and Cole Rapp finished with 3 carries for 33 yards rushing for Tucker Valley.

Tucker Valley will travel to East Hardy tonight; kickoff is set for 7pm from Baker, WV. For more Tucker County Sports info visit TuckerCountySports.Com
