TUCKER VALLEY SOFTBALL UPDATE

The Tucker Valley Middle School Softball team hosted Robert Bland on Monday April 30th and won the contest by the final score of 10-2. Paige Shaffer picked up the win pitching a complete game, striking out 4 batters. Tory Paul led the Lady Wildcats at the plate with 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Kate Simmons, Rachel Felton and Kristen Hicks added 2 hits each for Tucker Valley.


On Tuesday May 1st Tucker Valley hosted Taylor County and won the game 13-5. Kate Simmons got the win on the mound as she went the distance and struck out 5 batters. Paige Shaffer, Cheyenne Gooden and Rachel Felton led Tucker Valley on offense with 3 hits each. This offense helped drive in 8 combine runs for the Lady Wildcats. The Tucker Valley JV team also played Taylor County and picked up the win 14-2. Brianna Gooden got the win on the mound, while Katie Hicks led the Lady Wildcats JV team at the plate with 2 hits and 2 runs scored.

Tucker Valley played at home on Wednesday May 2nd against Doddridge County and got the win by the final score of 17-7. Corrinia Lipscomb struck out 5 and picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Wildcats. Shaleigh Darlington led the team in batting with 3 hits, including her first career home run over the center field fence. Rachel Felton added 3 hits and 3 runs scored.

On Thursday May 3rd the Lady Wildcats hosted Ritchie County for a varsity and jv contest. In the varsity contest Tucker Valley picked up the home win 11-3. Paige Shaffer went the distance on the mound for Tucker Valley as she picked up the win in a 4 strike out performance. Rachel Felton led the home standing Lady Wildcats at the plate with 3 hits and 3 runs scored. Corrinia Lipscomb and Shaleigh Darlington added 2 hits each for Tucker Valley in the win. The Tucker Valley JV team got the win also against Ritchie County by the final score of 6-4. Autumn Russell picked up the win pitching and Olivia Keeler led the team at the plate with 3 hits.

The Lady Wildcats finished the busy week with a home game against East Fairmont on Friday May 4th. Tucker Valley got the win in dramatic fashion by the final score of 7-6. The Lady Wildcats trailed the whole contest until the last inning. Tucker Valley overcame a 2 run deficit to score 3 runs and collect the win. Kate Simmons hit a big double to tie the contest and then Shaleigh Darlington drove in the game winning run on a hit to give the Lady Wildcats the come from behind win. Corrinia Lipscomb collected the win on the mound as she struck out 8. Paige Shaffer added 2 hits in the game for Tucker Valley who upped their overall record to 11-3 after the busy week.

Tucker Valley will be back in action tonight May 9th at Buckhannon-Upshur and then they will travel to Robert Bland on Thursday May 10th. For more info visit TuckerCountySports.Com
