Tucker Valley’s baseball team hasn’t had many marks in the win column over the past few seasons, but that changed last week as the Wildcats played their season opener at home on Thursday, March 26, against Central Preston.

Starting pitcher Bently Haddix recorded seven strikeouts as the seventh-grade hurler earned the win in a 7–5 victory. The Wildcats tallied 12 stolen bases, with Wade Boyles leading the charge with four of his own.

Rylan Sexton and Boyles each collected two RBIs, while Quinton Teter, Luke Lantz, and Haddix added one apiece.

The Wildcats also had several highlight-worthy defensive plays, with Lantz and Braylon Simmons each making a tough out. The defense was capped off by a 4–6–3 double play turned by Asher Kisamore to Haddix to first baseman Gunner Lester.

With the 7–5 victory, Tucker improves to 1–0 on the season and will return to the diamond on Monday, March 30, as they travel to Petersburg.
