The Tucker Valley Wildcats boys’ basketball team traveled to Morgantown, WV, for one of the largest middle school basketball tournaments in the state this past week. The Wildcats took on Barrackville Middle from Marion County, followed by St. Francis Middle from Monongalia County.

In the matchup with Barrackville, TV found themselves in an early hole, trailing 10-2 after the first quarter and 22-11 at the break. The Wildcats continued to hang tough but could never close the gap, trailing 31-19 at the end of the third and ultimately falling 46-36. Titus Bowley led the way with 17 points, followed by Quinton Teter with 8 and Legend Harper with 6.

The Wildcats returned to Morgantown the following day to take on a private school in St. Francis. The game started out deadlocked at 9-9 to end the first period, but St. Francis began to pull away before the half, leading 23-14. The Wildcats’ offensive struggles continued in the second half, as they notched only 5 points in the third quarter and 2 points in the fourth. The final score settled at 45-21. Quinton Teter led the team with 13 points, Titus Bowley added 6, and Blake Holland accounted for 2.

The Wildcats will return to action at the Buckhannon-Upshur gymnasium on January 6th at 6:00 PM.
