Braylon Simmons completes the double play.

By: Adam Freeman

The Tucker Valley Wildcats baseball team traveled for both of their games last week. They first traveled to Pendleton County just a week after defeating them at home. Tucker came out with their bats hot, scoring six runs to start the game while allowing zero. Pendleton would get on the board, scoring one run in both the bottom of the second and fourth innings, with Tucker holding the advantage 7-2 going into the fifth inning. Pendleton would outscore Tucker 12-2 in the final three frames to come from behind and beat the Wildcats 16-9. Tucker had three players with three hits to lead the charge at the plate. Asher Kisamore was a home run away from hitting for the cycle, as he had a triple, a double, and a single, with Rylan Sexton and Quinton Teter both having three singles.

The Wildcats would then travel to Kingwood to take on Central Preston Middle. This match would be a back-and-forth slugfest, with Tucker Valley coming from behind late. Tucker led 5-3 after two innings but then trailed 10-9 going into the sixth and final inning. Tucker scored three runs in the top of the inning and held Central scoreless to end the game, winning 12-10. Left fielder Sawyer Supak led the way for Tucker, collecting two hits and four RBIs. Teter got the win for Tucker, pitching 4-1/3 innings and striking out six. Wade Boyles came in for the pitching, throwing 1-2/3 innings, allowing zero runs with three strikeouts.

Tucker’s record currently sits at 3-3 on the season as they return home on Tuesday, April 21st, to host the Petersburg Vikings at 5:30 p.m.

Luke Lantz claims the catch.
