Momma Said

Happy Thanksgiving to All.

Well that time of year is here, turkey, ham, stuffing and all the fixins’. I don’t know if I have ever said, but I love to eat. But I want good homemade food, not this cardboard stuff the fast food joints pass off as food. Momma Said, “Food is good for the soul.” And I believe that, if you eat good wholesome food, your outlook on life is much better.
My only problem is, I get hungry but I don’t know what I want to eat. Now, for a holiday it is a no brainer. Of course it is going to be ham or turkey. This year I am having ham and I will be giving you the recipe in this article. So you can use the oven for all the other important stuff like pies, rolls and sweet potatoes. I am also including a super salad recipe as well. Momma Said, “The side stuff is as important as the main dish.”
I hope everyone has a great family get together and stays safe. Blessed traveling mercies for everyone on the road and in the air, stay safe and reach your destination for great family time. Don’t forget to include our military in your prayers and I hope they all stay safe as well. Take time to spend with the family, all that shopping can wait for another day. Momma Said, “Family is much more important, so spend your time wisely.”

CROCK POT HAM

Ingredients
Use a large or approx. 6-quart Crockpot.
1 Ham, pre-cooked, spiral cut {can use bone in or boneless}
3 cups brown sugar
1 20 oz can pineapple tidbits or chunks, undrained
Directions
Cover the bottom of the Crockpot with brown sugar.
Place ham on top of the brown sugar and add the pineapple tidbits with the juice.
Sprinkle ham with remaining brown sugar.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours.

CRANBERRY MILLIONAIRE SALAD

INGREDIENTS
3 cups Fresh Cranberries
¾ cup Sugar
1 cup water
1 Cinnamon Stick
2 cups sour cream (or plain greek yogurt)
2 cups pineapple tidbits, well drained
2 cups mini marshmallows
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups flaked coconut

DIRECTIONS
Combine cranberries, sugar, water and cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and let simmer 10 minutes. Cool completely (sauce will thicken upon cooling).
Add 1½ cups cooled cranberry mixture from step 1 with remaining ingredients and stir well. Let sit 4 hours or overnight.
