Breast Cancer Awareness
The Parsons Senior Center Outpost met on Tuesday, Oct. 1 for their monthly meeting. Mary Watring welcomed everyone, Sylvia Rosenau gave the prayer, everyone said The Pledge of Allegiance and sang God Bless America.
Celebrating October birthdays are: Vonda Phillips, Nellie Workman, Susan Cross and Effie Kuhn.
Evelyn Moore, Tucker County CEOS president, announced Oct. 1 as Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Mayor Dorothy Judy read and signed the Proclamation proclaiming Breast Cancer Awareness Day and Month.
Kim Ledden, County Health Nurse, spoke on early prevention, the importance of mammograms and how individual screening can save lives.
The wreath was hung by Clara Atkinson and Vera Lipscomb with Evelyn Moore presenting them with a pink carnation. Jennifer Poling, Extension agent, explained who the CEOS really are and how they support the community. Thursday, Oct. 17 will be the CEOS Achievement Night and a Craft Day will be on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Ann Filler sent the message through Sam that she is ready to help anyone with any changes they want to make in their Medicare Part D.
Flu shots will be available on Monday, Oct. 21 from 9a.m.-1p.m. at the Parsons First United Methodist Church.
The choir will go to Flanagan Hill on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
A Railroad Trip is planned for Thursday, Oct. 24 with later trips to Lost Creek and Fairmont.
Sam introduced the Cloggers from Lewis County, Clara Atkinson, Billie Jo Burkhammer, Charlotte Corder, Joyce Farley and Cy Dilly. They clogged to the tunes of “Mexican Jo, Hey Good Looking, Salty Dog Rag, Old San Antonia, Yackity Sack, Do You Know You Are My Sunshine, The Wanderers, The Music, Music” and Clara and Cy ended the program with a Waltz.
Evelyn Moore gave the invocation before a delicious meal.
