Williams,DorseyRay,SrDorsey Ray Williams Sr., 74, a resident of Pifer Mountain, passed from this life, Friday, April 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his family and his loving companion, Mogie, his dog.
Dorsey was born Thursday, April 9, 1942 at his homeplace on Pifer Mountain, a son of the late Cecil Ray Williams and Ada Pearl Swisher Williams.  On July 3, 1963 in Oakland, MD, he was united in marriage to the former Margaret Ann Ball, who survives.  They had celebrated fifty-two years of marriage.
Others left to cherish Dorsey’s memory is one son, Donald Gay Williams and wife, Darlene of Montrose, two daughters, Teresa Ann Williams and Lisa Pearl Stevens and husband, Robert, both of Parsons, two sisters, Mabel Hovatter of Thomas and Thelma Williams-Kochenderfer of Birmingham, AL, eight grandchildren, Scottie Williams, Heather Williams, Erika Smith, Zachary Williams, Kimberly Wamsley, Devin Smith, Bethany Williams, and Lukas Stevens, six great grandchildren, Olivia Williams, Aubree and Zaylee Smith, McKinley and Zayden Williams, and Mason Wamsley, a very special great great niece, Eilene Shoaff, several nieces and nephews, and the anticipation of two great grandchildren due in September.
Preceding Dorsey in death was one son, Dorsey Ray Williams, Jr., one sister, Richie Nestor, and one brother, Robert Williams.
Dorsey attended the school at Bull Run and Parsons High School, but by sixteen, he owned his own horse, saw, and logging truck.  He went on to work for the US Forestry Service, had done masonry work, worked at the Parsons Tannery, helped start and worked at the Tucker County Landfill, and owned and operated Williams Drilling.  He enjoyed hunting and farming and was quite the story-teller.  He loved his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Visitation was held at the Summerfield Funeral Home on Monday from 5 until 8 p.m.  Funeral services were held from the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 1 p.m.   Reverend Carolyn Shreve and Rev. Jerry Nestor officiated and interment followed in the Pifer Mountain Cemetery.  The Summerfield Funeral Home was been entrusted with the arrangements for Dorsey Ray Williams, Sr.  Send online condolences to the family at summerfieldfuneralhome.com.
