FRANKLIN – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team traveled Pendleton County on Tuesday February 8th. Tucker County built an early lead and held off the Wildcats to capture a 49-42 road win.
Tucker County got the offense going to start the game as they led Pendleton County after one quarter 20-6. In the second quarter Pendleton County fought back as they outscored Tucker County 15-8 in the second to trim the Mt. Lions lead to 28-21 at halftime.
Tucker County would control the third quarter slightly with a 11-9 advantage to put the score at 39-30 after three. The Wildcats tried to mount a comeback, but Pendleton County outpaced the Mt. Lions by just 2 points 12-10 in the fourth to give Tucker County the 49-42 win.
In the Maddox Anderson led Tucker County with 11 points and Ashton Lycliter added 10 points, 14 rebounds for the Mt. Lions in the win. Aaron Quattro added 8 points and Zach Long had 7 points for Tucker County. The Tucker County JV team also picked up the road win in a close game 42-38.
HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ team hosted Pocahontas County on Friday February 11th. The Mt. Lions jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they picked up the big 83-39 win.
The Mt. Lions controlled the game from the start as they raced to a 23-6 lead after one quarter of play. The second quarter continued to show dominance from the Mt. Lions as they outscored the Warriors 25-10 in the second to make the halftime score 48-14 Tucker County.
The Mt. Lions would then control the third quarter as they edged Pocahontas County 17-9 to push the Tucker County lead to 44-30 after three quarters. The Mt. Lions then continued to pull away in the fourth quarter as Tucker County outscored the Vikings 18-14 to give Tucker County the win by the final score of 83-39.
Tucker County’s Levi Bennett made 7 three point baskets in the game and finished with a game high 21 points. Aaron Quattro added 14 points for the Mt. Lions and Trevan Bonner chipped in with 11 points for Tucker County in the win.
Owen Knotts and Ashton Lycliter led the Mt. Lions in rebounding with 6 each. The Mt. Lions JV team got the win in the first game 85-43.

Tucker County (15-2) will return to action tonight Wednesday February 16th at home against Keyser. The Mt. Lions will then host Moorefield on Friday February 18th. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
