Memorial Day Party

 

Annual Memorial Day Party at The White Room Saturday May 23 at 6:30 p.m.

 

Square Dance

 

A Square Dance is planned as part of Art Spring on Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Education Center. The Bret Michaels’ Ramblers will be playing. Any local callers are invited to come call. Admission is $5. Everyone welcome.

 

Monarch Mania

 

Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m. Monarch Mania. Drop by the Canaan Valley National Refuge Visitor Center at 6263 Appalachian Highway(Davis) in Canaan Valley to learn about Monarch butterfly conservation and to participate in some fun arts and crafts projects! Materials will be provided. The event is part of ArtSpring, a community celebration of the arts in Tucker County. If you’ve never visited the Visitor Center take time to look at the interactive displays, do a scavenger hunt or explore our touch table.

 

Local Railroad History Talk

 

Ed Griesel, director of the West Virginia Railroad Museum, will bring history to life for Parsons families on Friday, May 22, at Mill Race Park. His talk on local rail history will take place at 5:30 p.m., just before the Music in the Park concert.

 

Opening Reception for ArtSpring

 

There will be an opening reception for the fifth annual ArtSpring Silent Auction from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at the Cottril’s Opera House. Everyone welcome.

 

Tucker County Solid Waste Authority Meeting

 

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Tucker County Solid Waste Authority is scheduled for Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Tucker County Solid Waste Authority Office, 284 Landfill Road, Davis.

 

Tucker Valley’s Production of Beauty and the Beast

 

Tucker Valley’s Production of Beauty and the Beast will be Thursday, June 11 at 6 p.m. and Friday, June 12 at 6 p.m. in the gym. Adults-$5, children 12 and under $3.

T.C. Association of Retired School Employees Meeting

 

The Tucker County Association of Retired School Employees is meeting on Thursday, May 21 at 12:00 noon at Little Andi’s Restaurant in Parsons. All retired school employees are invited to attend. A work session to assemble mailings will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Five Rivers Library meeting room.

 

Memorial Day dinner

 

The Hambleton Methodist Church will hold their Memorial Day dinner at noon on Sunday, May 24 in the church basement.

 

All You Can Eat Pancakes

 

All you can eat pancake dinner 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 23 at Odd Fellows Lodge Hall in Davis

 

Old Friends – Barbershop Quartet & Comedy

 

Old Friends, a comedy quartet who has performed up and down the East Coast will be preforming at 7:30 p.m. on May 23 at Blackwater Falls Lodge. Open to the public, there is no charge, but donations are accepted. Preformance is about an hour long – family friendly. Filled with song and comedy. Great fun!

 

National Community Action Open House

 

In celebration of national community action month there will be an open house from 10 a.M. -2 P.M. On May 27, 2015 at 513 Central Avenue, Parsons, WV (quality hill). Stop by to find out about all of our programs and services.

 

West Virginia Trout Stocking Week

 

The following waters were stocked: Blackwater River; Dry Fork (Randolph, Tucker); Horseshoe Run; Shavers Fork (lower section); Shavers Fork (upper section).

 

Parsons Lions Club Breakfast

 

Parsons Lions Club Breakfast, Saturday May 23 at Senior Center. 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Biscuits and Gravy, Scrambled Eggs, Potatoes, french Toast, Fruit Cup, Coffee, Orange Juice. All you can eat.
